What do you do if you have gold or silver and runaway inflation occurs?

The metal goes way up in value but how do you spend it? Will you need a suitcase to carry all the dollars, or will one piece get you $100 worth of food.

I am very worried about Hyper inflation, I own a few gold coins, about 100 pounds of copper pennies and $50+ face value of silver coins in my coin collection. I have two guns, stored water for my family to drink for two weeks and some batteries + two solar panels to recharge my cell phone and batteries. I also have a 750watt power inverter to run small appliances if the power goes out. I don’t think our country will be able to function if you need $100.00 to buy bread, your electric bill would be $4000 per month and you will not be able to buy gas. I watch the news to ear about inflation and if it get bad enough I plan to buy 6 fifty pound bags of uncooked rice and 6 fifty pound bags of uncooked beans at our local Sam’s club so that I will have enough food for six months. I personally think food will increase in price along with metals and other commodities. Most experts think that the effect of hyper inflation will start when the Chinese government wants to spend its 900 billion of us currency it hold right now. If the dollar loses it’s world currency reserve the dollar will also loose its high ranking status and the value will fall sharply, farmers will not be able to buy fuel to run their farms and food will become very expensive.

How do I set up an eco club?

My friend and I want to set up an eco club in our school. We have everything we need to set up one, except members. How do we recruit members for our club. What are some good ideas/activities that will make teens to join our club and get excited about helping the earth?

There are so many ways:
I’ll list a few:

Put out flyers for earthday week at school, I believe it’s around April 18th so you still have time.

During the week set up a lunchtime booth and share some eco-friendly products, such as cleaning products and eco friendly clothing and eco minded business items.

Get some earth friendly or green t-shirts in many sizes with a cool logo and get the kids to sign up to get a t-shirt.

Have a poetry contest, topic ‘ecology’ or ‘green technology’ and essay contest would also work, and give the winner a solar powered/crank radio. etc.

I could go on and on. We are in the process of creating an eco website http://ecocredibility.com and we would be happy to list your school program in our directory. Good luck, and just do it!

Solar Power Greenhouse

Solar Power Greenhouse

What have you done recently to help the environment?

I don’t mean tossing a newspaper into a recycle bin. What real action have you taken to help reduce greenhouse gases (BTW: anyone who thinks CO2 issues are false needs to wake-up!). Actions like:
– reducing electrical usage at home / work
– implementing or helping to implement an environmental management system at work
– alternative home heating
– solar / wind power
– high efficiency appliances / lighting
– buying locally grown food (our your own garden)…

Solar Energy Collectors

Solar Energy Collectors

When did solar energy first start?

Who was the first to created solar collectors? When did they do it?

Ancient Greek play The Clouds (424 BC) mentions a burning-glass (a convex lens used to focus the sun’s rays to produce fire).

People have used thermal mass of buildings and water containers to hold heat from the sun for centuries. Trees are obviously great solar collectors. Dark colored clothes are solar collectors.
Before electricity the most common use for solar energy was light and heat. There have been strange contraptions to direct sunlight to interiors of large buildings. Not really a collector.
Mirrors have been used to focus light for communication across long distances.

Solar heating collector becomes reflector when too hot. Amazing prototype!
